Solar Classroom
The Vashon Solar Tour will feature educational workshops all day at the Land Trust Building. We hope to educate and inspire you with information about all aspects of solar technology, the last updates on state and federal incentives for solar, and the future of the solar industry. We encourage you to listen in on a topic of interest, tour the sites, and always ask questions!

10:30 Jason Williams of Artisan Electric- Why Go Solar on Vashon? A brief overview of the state and federal incentives, how design and new technologies are helping the challenges we face for solar on Vashon. Question and answer period.
11:00 Jake Wade of Puget Sound Energy-Net Metering and working with your utility. Jake will go over the concept of grid-tied solar electric systems and explain how the homeowner works with PSE when going solar! Question and answer period.
11:30 Dorsey Davis of Prime Plumbing-Solar Thermal/Solar Hot water Systems. Dorsey will explain the different types of solar thermal systems, how they work in the Northwest. Question and answer period.
2:00 Gib Dammann of Dammann Design-Gib will talk about how to incorporate the elements of passive solar deisgn when designing and building a new home. Question and Answer period.
3:00 Chris Bingham of Chris B Solar-Chris will talk about the design and technology involved in a Grid-Tied PV system with battery back-up. The feature of battery backup allows the home to run off of electricity stored in batteries captured by the solar panels when the power goes out. Question and Answer Period.
